1
Zinnas
A vibrant and dependable bloomer in a wide range of colors and forms, known for its exceptional vase life.
Harvest when blooms are fully open.
Use the wiggle test: hold the stem about 8 inches down and give it a shake. If the flower head stays firm, it’s ready to cut.
2
Cosmos
Delicate, airy flowers with fern-like foliage that add elegance to bouquets and continuously bloom through the season.
For the longest vase life, cut when the first bud is just beginning to open.
Fully open blooms are stunning but only last 2–3 days once cut.
Harvest in the cool morning or evening for best results.
3
Celosia
(Pampas Plume)
Feathery, upright plumes in bold, sunset shades that bring texture and height to fresh or dried arrangements.
Harvest when plumes have reached their full height and soft, feathery appearance.
Best cut before they begin to brown or drop color.
Ideal for soft, airy touches in bouquets or as a dried flower.
4
Celosia
(Flamingo Feather)
Feathery, upright plumes in bold, sunset shades that bring texture and height to fresh or dried arrangements.
Harvest when plumes have reached their full height and soft, feathery appearance.
Best cut before they begin to brown or drop color.
Ideal for soft, airy touches in bouquets or as a dried flower.
When to Plant
Plant your seedlings after the last frost in your area—typically mid to late April in Zone 8a.
These are warm-season annuals, so wait until nighttime temperatures stay above 50°F.
Where to Plant
Choose a sunny location with 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily.
Seedlings can be planted in a garden bed or large containers filled with well-draining soil or quality potting mix.
Allow 8–12 inches of space between each plant to give them room to thrive.
