1

Zinnas

A vibrant and dependable bloomer in a wide range of colors and forms, known for its exceptional vase life.

  • Harvest when blooms are fully open.

  • Use the wiggle test: hold the stem about 8 inches down and give it a shake. If the flower head stays firm, it’s ready to cut.

2

Cosmos

Delicate, airy flowers with fern-like foliage that add elegance to bouquets and continuously bloom through the season.

  • For the longest vase life, cut when the first bud is just beginning to open.

  • Fully open blooms are stunning but only last 2–3 days once cut.

  • Harvest in the cool morning or evening for best results.

3

Celosia

(Pampas Plume)

Feathery, upright plumes in bold, sunset shades that bring texture and height to fresh or dried arrangements.

  • Harvest when plumes have reached their full height and soft, feathery appearance.

  • Best cut before they begin to brown or drop color.

  • Ideal for soft, airy touches in bouquets or as a dried flower.

4

Celosia

(Flamingo Feather)

Feathery, upright plumes in bold, sunset shades that bring texture and height to fresh or dried arrangements.

  • Harvest when plumes have reached their full height and soft, feathery appearance.

  • Best cut before they begin to brown or drop color.

  • Ideal for soft, airy touches in bouquets or as a dried flower.

When to Plant

Plant your seedlings after the last frost in your area—typically mid to late April in Zone 8a.
These are warm-season annuals, so wait until nighttime temperatures stay above 50°F.

Where to Plant

Choose a sunny location with 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily.
Seedlings can be planted in a garden bed or large containers filled with well-draining soil or quality potting mix.

Allow 8–12 inches of space between each plant to give them room to thrive.

How to Plant & Care

Transplant Gently: Remove each seedling from its pot, keeping the roots and soil intact.
Plant at the Same Depth: Match the soil line from the pot to your garden or container.
Water In: Give the seedlings a thorough watering after planting.

Ongoing Care:
Water regularly, especially during dry spells (approx. 1 inch per week).
Apply mulch to retain moisture and reduce weeds.
Deadhead spent blooms to encourage new flowers.
Stake tall growers like cosmos if needed.
